Cozy area but a little bit run down and hard to get into Ao Nang.

Nice location in the jungle. Very cozy feel. The bartender was amazing and very kind.

It was a 30 min walk from the beach. If you take taxis its between 100-400 baht one way. The shuttle does not go that often. The room we were in was not so fresh but okay. Our friends got another room of same sort and it was much fresher, so it depends on which one you get :)

What was the highlight of Aonang Cliff View Resort

A beautiful location, a mediocre hotel.

If you like the jungle, the location is lovely. You are right in the jungle and the cliff face was directly behind our chalet. The area is full of green, plants, trees, birds, squirrels and bugs. Its also several degrees cooler than town because the whole resort is in the shade of the cliff and surrounded with plants. Every customer has their own chalet so it is quite private and peaceful. It's far from any main road and not a great location for kids, so everything was very quiet too. The staff are very nice and friendly, including the cleaning staff, receptionists, pool guy. There is a shuttle to town which runs every two hours. There are 2-3 restaurants within 20mins walking distance. The pool is as pictured (although they need to run the filter more often). Poolside gets very little sun because of the tree cover, so its cold. There is a small bar with a lovely bartender by the pool, happy hour is 200BHT for 2.

There are many areas for improvement. Firstly, the breakfast was poor - an egg station, a choice of a few fruits, some generic bread, cheap cereal and a few steam trays with what looked like yesterdays lunch... Get some bacon, some decent pastries, increase the fruit offering and increase the quality in general. Secondly, everything needs renovation - the room was old and tired, the wood in the wardrobe was splintering, the safe needed repair, the curtains were broken, the mosquito netting on the windows have holes, the bed was hard and old, the bathroom was 30 years out of date and dirty... The 'breakfast area' is open air and the roof is collapsing, I peaked into the kitchen and it looks old and dirty. The pool needs to have the filter run more often and the lower pool is usually half empty. They have money because they are building new chalets, so management have chosen NOT to renovate. Bad choice - buy a pressure washer and start by deep cleaning that filthy kitchen. Third, consider a late shuttle - the last is at 6pm which makes it difficult to get back from town - this place is a LONG walk from the beach, entertainment, a 7-11 or a range of restaurants. The pictures on Booking.com are heavily edited. I would consider staying again, but in a nicer room and with a better breakfast.

The place is breathtaking,into the jungle monkeys on the trees and the cliff above is breathtaking. The whole place is like a small bungalow village which has an amazing atmosphere. The people working there, especially the barman with his amazing whiskey sour at the pool, are the friendliest and most helping people. Also the breakfast was pretty good!

Well on the bad side the place needs a renovation... I mean come on broken toilet leaking water on the bathroom floor... And furthermore the inside of the toilet is full of mold and salts... Very bad image. Also the towels were ripped and stained.... The beds weren't comfortable,one of them was wacky like the springs were done. Sadly i can keep on going..The fault is not of the people working there, it is of the owner who isn't taking care of the place.

Setting is awesome, an authentic thailand experience! Hourly trips to Ao Nang beach free of charge. Jump on and go explore! Hourly returns as well... the cliffs are AWESOME! The dense plant scapes around makes for a stunning setting. - get yourself a pool view unit.

The bed was a little hard... like haha, you can break your back sitting down to hard, haha. Bathrooms not on standard to the rest of the accommodations we chose, although far from as bad as the island bathrooms. Still an awesome experience!

I liked the pool a lot! It would be nice if it got a little more light. The breakfast buffet was pretty good - I am vegan so my options were limited but I loved the expresso machine, the baguettes and fruit! The staff were super helpful! And the transportation every hour into the main area was really nice!

The room was the nicest - totally fine but we were expecting it to be a little nicer.

Exceptional jungle garden, but the budget accommodation could use a makeover

I loved the tropical jungle garden, really the best and most valuable feature of the resort. It is kept in excellent shape. Many animals, birds, insects. The pool was very well kept and the whole location behind a giant rock is quite magical.

Overall there could be improvement. The budget accommodations need a make over. Fresh paint, redoing the bathroom. The huts are close to each other and it gets noisy. There is a lack of attention to details , so there are broken shower heads, running toilets. But if you inform the team, they immediately try to change it for the best. The will and intention is there.

Awesome

It is set in a beautiful setting under a jungle, monkeys come to visit on occasion. Every room/cottage is quite private and well equipped, one of the best resorts we ever stayed in. Breakfasts are amazing, so many options. Staff friendly and helpful. There is a little gym for free! Wifi only available around reception area which me personally found calming and there was no internet distraction during my holiday in the room.

There is free shuttle to the city center/sea but everytime we wanted to take that shuttle from city back to hotel it didn't come. On our 5 days stay we walked back to our hotel almost every day by foot, just once managed to catch the shuttle. It was going earlier or late and sometimes not at all. The swimming pool water was green and dirty. It is a shame because it is a beautiful one and would be nice to use it. We booked in advance, three months, and were charged more than people who booked at last minute. I really don't understand why,in my logic it should be the opposite. So maybe I would recommend to book last minute;)

Beautiful surroundings, great people, reasonable price. I would visit it again.

The breakfasts and location were very good. The people were nice and helpful. Every hour there is a transfer to Ao Nang so you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings ( trees all over the place) of the Cliff Resort and have city and the beach 5 minutes away. Very tasty food at the hotel restaurant at a reasonable price.

Like it or not, but most of the day the resort is hidden from the sun. On the swimming pool, you can enjoy the sun between 12:00 pm and 3 pm, more or less. The only thing that definitely needs to be improved is the waitress service during the afternoon in the hotel restaurant. The food was great but we ordered there 4 times and each time there were some mistakes including missing main dish for one of us :)
